Kitesurf in Essaouira — FAQ.

Windy Essaouira is run by Mohamed Achhibat, a former Moroccan national kitesurf champion and IKO-certified instructor. He has been teaching in Essaouira for over 8 years and still coaches every session personally. All gear is included, and lessons start from 60 euros.
At Windy Essaouira, a 2-hour kitesurf lesson starts at 60 euros for group sessions, 90 euros for semi-private, and 110 euros for private one-on-one coaching. Every lesson includes full equipment: kite, board, harness, helmet and safety vest. Longer packages bring the price down.
Essaouira gets its strongest wind from March through October, when the Alizee trade winds blow between 15 and 25 knots almost every day. July and August are the windiest months. Outside this period, surfing conditions are excellent year-round.
Essaouira is one of the best spots in Morocco to pick up kitesurfing. We teach at Diabat beach, an 8-minute drive south of Essaouira, where the wind is more stable and there are fewer crowds. The wind builds gradually during the day. Mohamed keeps groups small, never more than two students per instructor, so you get plenty of hands-on time.
A 2-hour surf lesson with Windy Essaouira costs 35 euros per person in a group. Private surf coaching is 90 euros for two hours. Board, wetsuit and rash guard are all provided. We pick the best break each morning depending on the tide and swell.
Beyond kitesurfing and surfing, Essaouira has a UNESCO-listed medina, a lively fishing port, and some of the best seafood in Morocco. You can explore the souks, walk along the ramparts, or take a camel ride on the beach. Windy Essaouira also offers multi-day camps that combine lessons with accommodation at Villa Amwaj.
